***This post may contain affiliate links. See my "Disclaimer" link for additional details.***

Last year, I wrote about Planning a Holiday Week

It was a great post, packed with information to help get a busy week under control.

But I've done a much better job this year. So Merry Christmas!

My gift to you is to teach you how to plan for any multi-day event or hard deadline coming up in your life.

It's Time to Start Planning for the Holidays

***This post may contain affiliate links. See my "Disclaimer" link for additional details.***

I hate it when a store plays Christmas music before Thanksgiving.

I rarely buy a single gift before Black Friday.

I never put up a tree until we have some leftover turkey in the fridge.

You Can Solve Your Planner Problems

Some people have called me a planner guru. They tease me about how I have to write everything down and comment, "you're so organized."

HA HA HA HA HA!

I am such an imperfect plannerd!

Today's Flashback Post proves it. (Make sure to read it.)

flashback, filing, pen, planner, post-it, technology,

Since then, I've changed the tip that I gave in that flashback post from writing computer-related tasks on a post-it app to using OneNote with my Surface Pro 3.

Depending on your laptop, you might decide to use a post-it app or OneNote.

Otherwise, though, I doing things the exact same way. The solutions still work years later.

The Ultimate List of New Ways to Use a Planner

Think a planner is just fancy calendar?

planner, menu, time management, shopping, flashback, medical, projects, tasks, checklist, routines,

Definitely not! A planner is so much more!

Check out my favorite post about new ways to use a paper planner by clicking HERE. Don't skip this step, as that classic Giftie post will teach you something new about paper planning!

As I do for every Flashback Sunday post, I wanted to share an update of new ways that I am currently using my planner since I wrote that previous post.

*FOLDER

Currently, I have a check to deposit and a list of books to check out at the library in the front pocket of my planner.

*TIMESHEET

I use a sticky note to track my billable time.

*MENU PLANNER

*SHOPPING LIST

*LOAN TRACKER

I list the money or things that I owe friends and family and the money that they owe me in my planner. For example, I put in with my sisters to buy my brother-in-law a gift, so I owe them money next time I see them! I also loaned a movie to my godchild.

*MEDICAL LOG

*PROJECT PLANNER

*TASK MANAGER

*CHECKLIST AND LOG FOR ROUTINES

For example, I have the steps in my weekly planner review on a checklist. I also log my exercise daily.

Don't forget to check out the post that inspired this one, all about new ways to use a paper planner, by clicking HERE if you haven't already done so!

Remember that sharing my posts on social media is the biggest compliment that you can give.

Take Care of the Insides of Your Planner

Most people take care of the outsides of their planners - wiping them down, protecting them in bags, or treating leather.

But the insides of a planner are the important part!

What are you doing to care for those parts?

budget, filing, flashback, future, note, parenting, planner, projects,

Check out this Classic Giftie post to find out how I care for the insides of my planner.

As always when I look back on a classic post, I update with things that I am currently doing. So, this morning, I read the old post and did the following:

*pulled out some projects that are complete and filed them away,

*filed away my September calendar pages, and

*created a task to redo my ABC Notes tabs, as they are worn out (and I don't have time to do it immediately).

Let me know in the comments what you did to care for the insides of your planner this week.

A Chore Chart Like You've Never Seen Before

***This post may contain affiliate links. See my "Disclaimer" link for additional details.***

Today's flashback considers a system that I used, discarded for technology, and think I might return to doing in my planner instead.

The truth is that a check mark on-line is just not the same as checking something off in my planner.

The "Almost" Perfect Husband

One of my personal favorite posts of all time is about how to live with people who are not planners by nature.

You can read that Sunday Flashback post HERE.

I still love my husband.

I still wish he'd get on the planner bandwagon.

Feel free to encourage him in the comments.

How to Arrange a Planner That Works

A few years ago, I changed things a bit in my planner. I never imagined that I was starting on a path of developing the system that I use (and blog about) today.

I thought a perfect flashback post would look at the small changes that I made at the beginning of my journey.

So click here:

Tweaking My Planner, circa 2013

...and read about how to set-up a planner in an order that makes sense!

flashback, planner, FranklinCovey 365

I do things a little differently now, but the essentials of putting a planner in order are all there.

Enjoy!

Top Ten Ways to Organize for Back-to-School

***This post may contain affiliate links. These links help you find the items that I use in my planner and financially support this blog. See my "Disclaimer" link for additional details.***

Summer is coming to an end. It is back-to-school time, so click below to check out my favorite classic Giftie tips!

My favorite technique that I still use is filing about 10 sample pages of art or school work, along with the report cards and any awards, in manilla clasp folders labeled with the kid's name and grade. I keep these folders in a box under my bed.
