10 Essential Sections to Transform Your Daily Plan

Whether you use a planner or not, you should consider making a plan each day.

I solemnly swear that a daily docket will change your day, whether you are an office worker, a stay-at-home mom, or a business owner.

planner, quo vadis, daily planner page, daily docket

There are 10 parts of a daily docket that help make the day go smoothly and ensure that you are more productive.

Know where you have to be and when you have to be there.

Have a list of things that need to leave the house with you. If you have a launchpad, just list items that aren't in the launchpad, like a cup of coffee or lunch from the fridge.

*Must Do

Create a list of one to three items that must happen today.

Notes allows you to write down details (such as where an appointment is at or what work projects you want to work on). Create this space on the daily page even if it is blank. You might need it later.

*Repeating Task Tag

If anything (like your household dailies) repeats, have a place for those repeating tags.

Life is just easier if you know what you are going to eat.

*Time Specific Tasks

I particularly like to create a two-column schedule. Appointments go on the left and time specific tasks go on the right.

Time specific tasks are tasks that need to be done in the morning, in the afternoon, or before or after a particular appointment.

For example, if you have to make a phone call in the morning, so that the person you are calling has time to return the call, that is a time specific task.

*Clothes Plan/Weather

Check the weather and plan what you are going to wear. You can skip this step if you set out your clothes the night before.

*Should Do

Save room for things that you hope to get to. Your more efficient plan might mean that you actually do those things today.

*Notes to File

Since daily plans are a working tool, there is no need for most people to archive them. The one exception is if there is a phone call or incident that you want to keep note of in your files. If so, this section will come in handy.

Try making a daily plan for a few days. Or, if you prefer, only make it on busy days.

TIP: Once you decide on your daily plan layout, draw a quick template and keep it in the Notes/ABC Files section of your planner for reference.

NOTE: The blank layout used in this post is a Quo Vadis planner refill. However, any daily layout or blank page would work!
